DiamondGlow: Noninvasive Skin Resurfacing
DiamondGlow: Noninvasive Skin Resurfacing Published October 26, 2021 @ 10:15am

The DiamondGlow system was launched in 2020 by SkinMedica and in 2021 won the New Beauty Award for Best In-Office Facial Treatment. DiamondGlow is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment. It essentially is a three-step process that incorporates the following:

  1. Exfoliation: similar to, yet more gentle on the skin, than traditional microdermabrasion;
  2. Extraction of dirt and debris from pores;
  3. Infusion of various serums that can be tailored to individual patient needs.

The overall impact of the DiamondGlow is to give one a radiant feel to the skin. Patients of all skin types can benefit. The suction and grit felt during traditional microdermabrasion is replaced in this treatment with a recessed diamond tip that can be adjusted to individual skin types; therefore, even sensitive skin patients can benefit. As the dead skin cells are removed and the pores opened and cleaned, the treatment serums can be infused when the skin is most responsive to absorbing them. Data shows that at 72 hours after treatment, patients still note improvement in fine lines, roughness, and dryness. In addition, creams and serums patients use at home are able to penetrate better after treatment. If patients supplement their treatment with the at-home serums provided through SkinMedica, they can continue to see significant improvements in hyperpigmentation and photodamage, roughness, texture, and skin tone at 12 weeks.
